In this episode, host Medha Gupta has the pleasure of chatting with Roger Einstoss. Roger is the CEO and co-founder of Braintly, and a company dedicated to showing American tech companies the huge opportunities they have in hiring their engineering teams in Latin America. With over 18 years of experience in the industry, he brings a wealth of expertise in software development, entrepreneurship, and mentorship to every endeavor.

Roger discovered his passion for coding at just 15 years old, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Originally doing freelance development work, he transitioned into project leadership, and eventually, into starting his own company. Hoping to help entrepreneurs turn their dreams into a reality, Roger founded Braintly to bridge the gap between talented Latin American software engineers and American tech companies, offering a mutually beneficial opportunity for innovation through collaboration.

However, Roger quickly learned that being a founder involves a rollercoaster of responsibilities; this demanded adaptability and resilience. Throughout the interview, he discusses the various roles that he had to take on throughout his startup's history—coding, project management, interacting with clients, and strategic planning, just to name a few—that highlighted the importance of these soft skills.

Roger also faced challenges in selling the idea of Braintly to American tech companies. He discusses how he overcame these challenges through emphasis on cultural alignment, minimal timezone difference, and the strong technical and communication skills that the region boasts. He also shares the cost benefits that companies gain by working with Braintly.

To aspiring engineers and entrepreneurs, Roger emphasizes the importance of deeply understanding the problems one is passionate about solving, rather than jumping right into your code editor. He advises young innovators to leverage the tools of today, like AI and no-code platforms, to quickly prototype on ideas and validate product-market fit without significant upfront investment.

Finally, he emphasizes the personal aspect of being an entrepreneur, highlighting the importance of founder wellness and taking care of one's mental and physical health to maintain clarity, productivity, and passion throughout their journey. Tune in to this week's episode of Debugged for more valuable insights about tech talent from Roger Einstoss, and his inspiring career!
